Asian Voices for Organized Youth for Community Empowerment (A-VOYCE) is ACDC’s youth leadership development program for underserved youth from Greater Boston. As part of A-VOYCE, youth work with other high school students, who are interested in improving the community and in sharing with others the knowledge, culture, and history of Asian Americans in Boston. Participants learn about community development and how to create positive change for social issues affecting Asian Americans.
Over the course of the program, youth learn public speaking and presentation skills, build leadership skills, and are presented with opportunities to positively give back to the community. Participants receive training to lead ACDC walking tours about Boston Chinatown’s history, culture, and community activism. Youth build lasting friendships through the program, gain an invaluable network of program alumni, and have opportunities to create change.
Mission Statement: Our mission is to bring high school students together to use their voices in affecting positive change in the community through the power of dialogue and storytelling.
